Simone Mansell Broome

Simone Mansell Broome was born in Tenby, Pembrokeshire. She studied in England and worked as a teacher and in business before moving to Carmarthenshire in 2007 and becoming involved in the performance poetry scene, taking part in some slams, and running ‘Word Up’ open mic night in Cardigan for four years. She has been published in small mags, ezines and anthologies with successes and mentions in competitions from 2006 to 2010. She published two slim volumes in 2008 & 2009, and a full collection – ‘Cardiff Bay Lunch’ published by Lapwing, Belfast in 2010. Stepping back from writing for many years, she set up and developed an eco wedding business on a farm in Carmarthenshire but in 2021 published a children’s novel, ‘Valletta and the Year of Changes’. She has also had poetry commissions for ITV in 2018 and twice in 2020; poetry commissions for Attic Theatre, Newcastle Emlyn in 2018 & 2021; poetry commission for Seagull Gallery in Cardigan in 2022 and 2023. She has a new poetry book due out in March 2023.
