Sally Spedding was born near Porthcawl, but trained in sculpture at Manchester and London. Her strong familial connections with France, Germany and Holland have provided inspiration for her many crime novels however. She writes much of her work in her Pyrenees mountain retreat, although still lives in Wales. She was married to famous Welsh painter Jeff Spedding. As well as writing chilling, noir crime Sally is also an accomplished poet having won the International Welsh Poetry Competition twice. She is also a regular judge of the contest as well as many others.
