Jon Blake

Jon Blake (1954, E) is a published author of over sixty books, mainly for children and young adults, since 1984.  Originally from Southampton, Jon has been a resident of Cardiff since 1987.  Formerly, a teacher and community centre warden, tutor of creative writing at the universities of Glamorgan and Newport.  BBC Talent award winner for radio comedy, shortlisted for Children’s Book Award, Laugh Out Loud Award, Writers Guild Best Children’s TV Script.  YA novel ‘The Last Free Cat’ was chosen for the prestigious International Literacy Association Young Choices list.  Jon is also a highly regarded creative writing tutor (www.parkwrite.com) and is the songwriter and guitarist-vocalist with Shipbuilding (www.shipbuilding.wales).  He has been involved in countless community projects including songwriting projects with the residents of Adamsdown, Cardiff.  His picture book ‘You’re A Hero Daley B’ has sold over half a million copies.
