Catrin Collier

Karen Watkins (1948, E) is a Pontypridd novelist of East Prussian descent. Writing as Catrin Collier she is known for her historical works, like the ‘Hearts of Gold‘ series set in her hometown between 1930 and 1950.  As Katherine John and Caro French she is also a successful crime thriller writer and modern fiction writer respectively. Her works have been made into drama for the BBC and the thriller ‘By Any Name‘ has also been made into an action film. She is one of Wales’ most successful authors. Ty Catrin, an adult education centre in Pontypridd, was named in her honour in 2002.
